Privacy Policy
Last updated 8 July 2026
Pip is a desktop pet for macOS. It was built to be a small, private companion, so it has no accounts, no analytics, and no way to talk to a server. This page explains that in plain terms.
What we collect
Nothing. Pip does not gather personal information, usage analytics, advertising identifiers, or any other data about you or your device.
What stays on your device
Pip keeps a little local state so your pet remembers itself between launches. This includes:
- Your adopted pets and their meters, growth stage, and care history.
- A small preference for whether interaction sounds are on or off.
All of this is stored inside the app's own sandbox container on your Mac (~/Library/Containers/com.samin.pip/). It is never uploaded anywhere. Removing the app removes this data with it.
Knowing when you step away
So your pet can nap while you are gone rather than being neglected, Pip checks how long it has been since your last input. It reads only the number of seconds since any keyboard or mouse activity. It never records what you type, what you click, or which apps you use.
On-device thoughts
The thought bubbles that appear above your pet are generated on device. On a Mac with Apple Intelligence, they use the built-in model that runs locally. If that is not available, Pip uses a set of hand-written lines instead. Either way, nothing is sent off your Mac and no keys or accounts are involved.
No network use
Pip contains no networking code. It makes no web requests, so there is no data in transit and no third parties involved.
Children
Pip is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date at the top. Because Pip collects nothing, we do not expect material changes.
