Pip collects nothing. It does not transmit or share data. Everything your pet remembers stays on your Mac.
Pip is a desktop pet for macOS. It was built to be a small, private companion, so it has no accounts, no analytics, and no server connection. This page explains exactly what the app does.
What Pip collects
Nothing. Pip does not gather personal information, usage analytics, advertising identifiers, diagnostics, or any other data about you or your device.
What stays on your device
Pip keeps local state so each pet remembers itself between launches. This can include:
- Your adopted pets, their names, meters, growth stages, and recent care history.
- Your preferences for interaction sounds and launch-at-login behavior.
- Optional custom sprite files you add yourself.
Pet data is stored inside Pip’s macOS App Sandbox container. It is never uploaded. You can clear the pet roster and care history using Reset Pip in the app’s settings.
Knowing when you step away
To let your pet nap while you are gone, Pip checks how long it has been since the last keyboard or mouse input. It reads only the number of elapsed seconds. Pip never records what you type, what you click, which apps you use, or what appears on your screen.
On-device thoughts
On a supported Mac with Apple Intelligence available, Pip can use Apple’s built-in Foundation Models framework to create short thought bubbles locally. If that feature is unavailable, Pip uses a hand-written collection of lines. Neither path sends prompts or responses over the internet.
No network use
Pip contains no networking feature and makes no web requests. There are no analytics vendors, advertising partners, or other third parties receiving app data.
Children
Pip is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If the app’s privacy behavior changes, this page will be updated before the relevant release, with a new date shown above.
